Fearless Fighter
"Maverick"
Maverick is a standout male proudly bred and produced by Diamond Class Poodles, sired by Diamond Class Bentley of Araeha's and out of Mercedes, our first foundation bitch. As a second-generation Diamond Class dog, he represents the direction and vision we have worked to build within our breeding program.
He exemplifies the qualities we prioritize in our Standard Poodles — balanced structure, fluid and effortless movement, rich red pigment, strong breed type, and a confident, eager-to-please temperament. Maverick combines the strengths of both parents while bringing his own presence and charisma to the ring.
From the moment he began his show career, Maverick exceeded expectations. He earned more than enough points to complete his Canadian Championship in just six total ring appearances, including a 3-point win at his very first show. His success continued as he quickly went on to earn his Canadian Grand Championship, accumulating all 20 required Grand Championship points in only four shows. Remarkably, only three of those points were single-point wins, with the remainder earned through major wins and strong competition.
As a red Standard Poodle, Maverick's accomplishments are especially meaningful. While colour alone does not define quality, red poodles have historically been less common in the conformation ring, making it particularly rewarding to see a dog of his colour earn recognition based on his overall merit, structure, movement, and breed type.
Beyond his success in the ring, Maverick represents what we strive for as breeders: each generation building upon the strengths of the one before it. As the son of Bentley, a dog who played a foundational role in our program, Maverick demonstrates the progress that can be achieved through thoughtful breeding decisions, health testing, and a commitment to preserving the integrity of the breed.
Maverick is fully health tested through Embark and OFA and is now beginning the next chapter of his career as a stud dog. We are excited to see the qualities he consistently passes on to future generations and look forward to watching his influence continue to shape the future of Diamond Class Poodles.
